"It is rare that someone can tell a story that truly creates in the reader a need to keep thinking once the story has ended."

a few awesome things for you. first, i stayed up way past my bedtime and made a few deals with dark forces beyond my understanding, and so managed to squeak out a few covers for Shuteye #3 last night.

so now you know what the beast looks like. :) secondly, we have the first round of a series of 1" buttons in the store now. they're pretty awesome. Shuteye #3 will be in the store too, right after i get back from SPX. so, what, monday or so.

over the past 4 weeks or so, i've turned down every social engagement, every party, every dinner out, just about everything extracurricular except the Lost season premiere, to work on the forthcoming issue of shuteye.

it's called Shuteye #3: Night and Day. it's 49 pages long. it's about a young couple on a long hiking trip in wisconsin who lose the trail and find an abandoned house. or maybe it's about relationships between two very different people and the strains placed on them by outside influences, and doing whatever one needs to do to bear those strains. i'm not really sure right now, coz i'm too exhausted from drawing and inking 49 pages. and designing a cover illustration. and completely screwing up the two silkscreens i was going to use to print the covers.

the book is done. sort of. i have everything except the cover, and if god is real and isn't too pissed at me for, you know, all the blasphemy, i'll be able to take another crack at the silkscreening, and get it all done in time for SPX.

i'm very, very close. and i really don't want all those missed dinners and parties over the last few weeks to be in vain.

anyways. here's some sample pages for you.
