NEWS:

so i'm gearing up for this art show in beloit, WI this weekend. i'm part of the arts walk, i guess? the gallery's been kinda sparse with the information. anyway, we're driving up tomorrow morning so's i can schmooze with prospective buyers and show off portfolio stuffs. i'm not really too optimistic about selling a million things, coz it's a small college in a small town, but hellsbells, if it goes well i might start trying to exhibit here in chicago. :)

i've got reprints of EVERYTHING now, all the ouija comics are back in stock. i'll prolly do a little distro-sunday action this weekend, trekking around to all the comic book stores and collecting moneys and getting new copies on the shelves.

i pulled a bunch of new woodcut and linoprints last night and realized i had completely forgot how much FUN printmaking is. hooray for printmaking! i think i'll be doing a lot more of it. maybe i'll even sell some prints here. :) at some point i have to dig out my gocco and learn how to use it, too.

oh! and the vea comics should be in sometime next week!!! i'll have them up on the shop site very soon.

also, there's a new packingtownup at metroblogs. i told lauren if i didn't have a new one up every friday she could come up with a stinky nickname for me. and kick me in the shins. :)

i'm getting back into the swing of things. i did my first-in-an-embarrassing-long-time cartoon for metroblogs. i promised lauren i'd have new toons for them every friday, and if i didn't that she could make up a new smelly nickname for me every week. :) also, i swear to you now, on the graves of my foremothers and forefathers and foreuncles and forecousins, I WILL HAVE A NEW BUCKET AND DOG CARTOON ON MONDAY.

also i have some reprints back now, so there aren't so many "sold outs" on the store page. :) BUY THINGS. that is all.

SO. i'm paying for it today, but last night's taraf de haidouks concert was wicked awesome.

i heard her speak last week at women and children first, and she was charming, perceptive, inspirational, and hilarious. she has a sharp and biting wit and an amazing sense of humor in the face of societal absurdity. if you haven't already read persepolis 1 and 2, you have GOT to pick them up. embroideries was incredible too.

a retraction:

comixpress is not ignoring me. they are just really really busy. i got an email today that apologized profusely and promised to get my job back on track. so, sorry for the slander. or libel. :) i forget which one. anyway, i'll have nice copies of vea to sell soon, finally. :)

in the meantime, the show at beloit runs from may 14 to august 1. fingers crossed that i sell a few things to make this worthwhile. the gallery asked if i had anyone to send invites to, and i realized that all of my old art professors are long gone, off exploring other frontiers. i don't even know where they are anymore. and i can't even attend the opening, coz i have too many other things going on that weekend. feh. i hope i can get up there to see it hanging at some point, but it'd involve renting a car, i think.

niles was in quimby's a short while back and said that the ouija comics were almost entirely gone. i stopped in chicago comics the other night and there were all of 2 books left. and i just sent almost all the books i had left to my alma mater for a show. it's a very nervewracking situation for me; i want to get everything reprinted and back in the stores before everyone forgets about me, but on the other hand, i just moved, and i don't know how much money i have to reprint things right now. eeeep. :( i did get a VERY short run of vea printed, and it looks really nice. if i can figure out how to have kinko's print that so it won't bankrupt me, i'll do a larger run and actually offer them for sale; coz it looks like comixpress is ignoring me completely. :( i don't know what happened to them, they were such a nice resource for self-publishers, but i sent in vea to be printed over TWO MONTHS ago, and i haven't heard word one back from them.
