so i moved on saturday to the new apartment. with uHaul in hand and 4 of the bestest friends ever, to whom i owe copious amounts of pizza and beer, we moved nearly everything out of the old apartment, leaving just a few chairs and random items, and the two cats. we unloaded the truck in the new place, then went back to the old one for the remainder. while dave and niles loaded the inanimates in the truck, i found greta and corralled her into her cat carrier. then i turned around to grab mrs. cheng.
only mrs. cheng was nowhere.
we looked in every corner of the now-empty apartment. "there's nowhere left for her to HIDE," i said, panicking. "did she run out the door when we weren't looking?" the three of us hunted high and low, each scouring every corner of the place, until dave finally spotted her.
behind the radiator.
stuck.
this is what it looked like:

at this point, i continued to panic, adding a little hyperventilating to the mix. we reached for her, grabbed at her, pushed, pulled, and she didn't even budge. she was stuck in there BUT GOOD. in a flurry of frantic hysteria, i bounded down the stairs and enlisted the help of joe, the building manager. he and dave grabbed hold of the radiator and pulled on it, prying it less than a centimeter further from the wall, and *pop!* out scrambled mrs. cheng. i dried my tears, and my breathing slowly returned to normal. madame cheng, not having learned her lesson about hiding behind things, was more freaked out than i was, and expressed this by immediately hiding behind the fridge. i eventually coaxed her out tho, and she's fine now. no harm, no foul, i guess. it was a scary coupla minutes there, tho.
