in most romance languages, the word for easter comes from the word pesach, the hebrew word for passover. in germanic languages such as english tho, the word's etymological origins are a little murky, but many think it comes from eostre, the anglo-saxon goddess of spring, fertility, and renewal of life. which would make sense, becoz her festival would be about the same time of year as easter, coinciding with the equinox, and the return of life to the forests and fields.

which got me thinking, the winter's been pretty stagnant, like it usually is. but in the last few weeks, i've been offered a spot in an art show, given a shot at doing a music video for new order, decided to find a new apartment in a new neighborhood, started collaborations with two different artists, started planning a brand new comic book convention for chicago, found two new freelance clients, and begun work on a graphic novel.

life is returning to the forests and the fields. :)

oh! also: i got the year in review newsletter from treehouse animal foundation yesterday. there's an article in there about the nine most miraculous kitty recovery stories from 2004, and mrs. cheng (bella) is one of them! they printed a photo of her and everything. we feel very famous. except they made a mistake and said she'd been adopted by a staff member. which i'm not. but still. hooray for the miracle kitty!
